What’s the difference between construction finance, development finance and standard home loans?

Standard home loans:
- 30-year term
- Typically principal and interest repayments for owner occupied properties and interest only options for investment
- The total loan amount made available at settlement

Construction loans:
- Interest only during the build
- Funds are released in stages as construction progresses
- Must be completed within 1-2 years or will be reassessed
- Suitable for home construction and smaller development projects

Development finance:
- Interest only with interest capitalised into the loan
- Funds released in stages during construction (some funds made available upfront)
-Typically suited for larger-scale property development projects

Who uses construction and development finance?
